Making it easy for Managed Fund investors to stay on top of their earth-changing investments.

Background

Australian Ethical was lagging in the innovation space. Reliant on partner vendors to serve online account information to their managed fund investors, there was a disconnect between customer expectations from their brand, and the reality of the experience. They needed help to improve their digital user experience. 

Solution

Using Flutter, we designed and developed a mobile and web application that gave investors greater control and visibility over their investments. 

Starting with a MVP that addresses the basics,we created an experience that told the story of what Australian Ethical believes in, its values and its goals for a better tomorrow while allowing users to gain control and track how their money is making a difference.

Understanding business and user requirements to prioritise features

We aligned on core features for MVP, to ensure that the first release delivers the ‘brilliant basics’ and vastly improves customer experience. Information architecture and wireframes were developed to facilitate this evolution, with special consideration given to making the user journey from sign-up (via a third-party external form) to set up (in the app) as frictionless as possible.

We conducted ideation sessions with key stakeholders to identify pain points in the current digital experience and develop the vision and product roadmap for the app. 

Creating a component library to provide a consistent experience. 

Using the existing brand guidelines, we created a direction to bring the AE brand into the digital space and beyond.

We looked at the brand from an experiential lens and the benefits to its users. With this mindset, we explored how we could expand the Australian Ethical brand into this space and create a guiding vision to ensure the app’s success.

Setting up a direction enabled us to break the brand down to molecules, compounds and elements as our base design system, then build the user interface of our experience. We ensured that this was responsive across desktop and tablet, so we had to create a smart and efficient approach to ensure consistency.
